Meet our 2009 Officers:
President - Mike Travis
Hi, my name is Mike Travis. I am a native of Payette County on the Oregon Idaho border. I grew up on a dairy farm, in Fruitland Idaho. I was very active in 4H & FFA with cattle & pigs growing up, so as a parent I encouraged my three children to get involved in the programs. They started with suffolk/hampshire sheep and then added rabbits. My wife helped the kids foster their interest in rabbits at first because I had no interest in rabbits whatsoever. My oldest son discovered he could do more with his rabbit project if he got involved with ARBA. As my wife & kids became more involved I started to see the potential for a family hobby, thus CMZ Rabbitry was born. We excusively raise mini rex. What started as a project just for our kids has grown into an exciting hobby for myself and my wife that we will continue even after the kids are grown. I'm hooked.
We are members of the National Mini Rex Rabbit Club, Blue Mountain Rabbit Breeders Association, Rockin' Rabbits youth club, Mini rex Fanciers of the Greater Northwest.
I am excited to see the progression of our breeds, and the increased interest in showing rabbits. I am working hard to encourage new and experienced breeders alike to strive for the best quality animals they can raise no matter what the breed. My goals as President of Blue Mountain RBA is to be an added resource for fellow breeders, new and old alike and to bring more shows to our central location on both sides of the Blue Mountains. Thanks for the opportunity to be your club President, feel free to contact me at anytime.
Vice President - Kathy Tellechea
Hi my name is Kathy Tellechea. I am a native of Morrow County. I have lived in Lexington for most of this time. I'm retired and a widow. My eldest son, Jim, lives in Panama and my youngest son, Phillip, lives in Portland. Besides the rabbits I raise doves and Barbados sheep. If I am not busy with the animals you will more then likely find me in my yard tending the many flowers and plants. My darlings are my Annie dog and Miss Dallas which are Australian Cattle Dogs.
KT'S Bunny Barn is co-owned by myself and my neighbor and best friend Pam Renfro. We have been raising and showing mini rex since 2001 and are dedicated to improving the quality of the breed. We raise Black, Blue, Broken, Castor, Chinchilla, Himalayan, Otter, Tortoise and White varieties. We are members of the National Mini Rex Breeders Association, Mini Rex Fanciers of the Greater Northwest, Oregon League of Rabbit Breeders, Washington State Rabbit Breeders Association, Idaho State Rabbit Breeders Association, The American Rabbit Breeders Association, and the Blue Mountain Rabbit Breeders Association.
As Vice-President I would like to inspire people to stay interested in raising and showing rabbits, it is a great hobby. I feel it is important to keep communication open between the Blue Mountain RBA officers and members.
I would like to encourage members to contact me with any questions or concerns.
I am looking forward to being your club Vice President.
